Signing in L.A.

Hey guys!!!!

To start out our p-day, we had a flat tire! Yay! So much fun! But this week was great. The traffic was really bad one day and we asked someone what was going on and they said President Trump was here. So it only took 2 hours to drive 8 miles, love LA traffic!!!

I had a really cool experience the other day, while we were street contacting. We started talking to this guy and his daughter came out.  He told us that she could not speak and we thought "Oh, she can't speak Spanish".  So I started to talk to her in English, but no she really could not speak, she was deaf. She started to sign to me, and me having one year of high school ASL (American Sign Language), tried to sign back.  I don't know how, but I remembered things I never thought I would -- gift of tongues! She showed us her family and everything. It was way cool. Never thought I'd use something I learned in high school in the real world, but I did! Crazy!!!!

Being here in LA, I've seen so many sad situations and I've seen how much the gospel blesses lives. I want you all to know how much your Heavenly Father loves you! I love you guys so much!

Love,

Luv

Hi Y'all,

This week was great. Our amazing ward held a Valentine's Day party, which was fun.  We spent a lot of time this week doing street contacting to find people interested in hearing about the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Once in a while, we talk to students who attend USC (University of Southern California) since the campus is just across the street from our chapel.

We are continuing to teach Luis. He is progressing and is on track to be baptized.

Steven is not progressing as fast.  He needs to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon.  We were able to get him a simplified version in Spanish to help him understand what he is reading.

Hermana Ramírez has been helping me with my Spanish so much. Each day, I read aloud in Spanish to her from the Book of Mormon and she helps with the pronunciations and vocabulary. Since she's learning English, she takes a turn and reads to me in English and I help her in the same way.  It has been so helpful and the Spanish is coming along.  She always says "What the heck?!" To literally everything, it's so funny.

Anyway, I want y'all to know how much God loves you and that He is always there for you!!!!

Love,
Hermana Weenig <3

Trio Orta Vez

Hi Y'all,

It's been a busy week.  We finally moved apartments!!!!!! We are in an awesome two room apartment instead of our tiny one room.  yayaya  I'm going to miss the black mold in my other apartment, so sad... Not! It only took us 15 hours to move and close the other apartment, too! We had to clear out junk and clean from years of other missionaries living there.  So much fun. :(

Transfers happened and I'm staying with Hermana Wall. We are also getting another companion! I'm going to be in a trio otra vez (again)!!! Our new companion's name is Hermana Ramirez.  She is from Peru and she doesn't speak any English. I'm so excited!  She will join us on Wednesday.

So this past week has been crazy. We got fed literally almost every meal. We are teaching this older lady named Luisa and she served us dandelion weeds.  They were in a big bowl of brown water and literally tasted like gross grass, but she eats them like popcorn.

One evening, we were doing drop bys for members and when we knocked on this door, thinking it was a member's house.  This guy opened the door that we didn't know.  It was just really awkward, so we just told him who we were.  He was like "Oh, I might have daughters who would be interested, come in!" So we went in and talked to his two daughters for awhile. They were awesome and super interested that we have a living prophet today.  We are going back another day to teach them more.

Emely had a birthday party and it was amazing. She turned 10! She's the cutest little girl.

We are still teaching Steven and he is interested in getting baptized! Its crazyyyyyy! He is awesome!

For p-day, we celebrated Hermana Wall's birthday.  We took her out for lunch and played soccer with some elders in our district.

Love y'all! Be safe!
