New Chair

Hi Y'all,

The reason I titled this email "New Chair" is because in LA when people don't want furniture and stuff, they leave it on the side of the road.  Soooooo we saw this nice chair and brought it back to our apartment.  Our roommates weren't super impressed, but its growing on them. haha  We switched it for one of our chairs.   We put the old chair on the street and we see homeless people sitting in it all the time, we are happy we could help them.

This week was great! The other day we were out street contacting and met Luis! He's the best. We invited him to church and he came!!!!! After the meeting, he asked for a Book of Mormon and he's super interested. Plus, Emely was confirmed in sacrament meeting! It was awesome!

We had a great lesson with Steven yesterday, but he keeps looking up things on YouTube about our church. Let me tell y'all, YouTube isn't the place to find answers!!!! If you wanna know for yourself, read the Book of Mormon! You can't go off what other people say, you need to find out for yourself.  Sorry for the little tangent, but for real,  y'all, you need to find out for yourself.

We met this family that works at a smog check place.  They were so nice and invited us in and gave us food.  They told us about how they took this kid in that grew up with a super hard life and that they take care of him now. His name is Kevin! He's one of our new friends and he's awesome.

We meet people all the time that tell us their whole life story and how they grew up in gangs and all that crazy stuff.  People go through such hard things.  It's crazy. That's why the gospel is the best because it gives people hope! Guys, I'm so grateful and lucky to have grown up in the gospel, it has blessed my life so much.  The more we teach people, the more I see their lives change. God is real!

I love you all so much! Stay safe.

Emely

Hi Y'all,

Emely Muñoz was baptized yesterday! It was so cool. Her family just moved from Honduras and they are so sweet. While we were helping Emely get ready, her mom said "I cant wait for my baptism" (in Spanish, of course).  We both were so shocked. haha  She's awesome. The service was so cool, her dad sang "I am a Child of God" and the spirit was so strong! These people are amazing.

We were out finding the other day and we passed this guy walking his dogs.  We started to talk to him and he told us that he is retired now.  When we asked what he formally did for work, he said he was Michael Jackson's hair stylist! He did hair for a bunch of other famous people, too.  But like Michael Jackson !?? It was cool.

We took Steven to the temple visitor's center yesterday.  A member guitarist was performing. It was really cool. He talked about how music is God's language, because it's the same wherever you go. Steven loved it. We walked around the temple grounds and answered all the questions he had. It was super cool.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and keep being amazing. Love you guys!

Hollywood

Heyyyy Y'all,

This week has been crazy with everything. We are still teaching Emely and her baptism is this Sunday! Yay! She's super excited.  Her family is super involved, too, even though none of them are members (issues with not being legally married).  They attend church, do Come Follow Me, etc.  I love this family!

We are still teaching Steven and he is finally opening up to us. YAY!

We went on exchanges this week, which was fun.  I was helping back the car out of the parking spot, and this guy came up to the side of me and just started to pee.  I didn't know what to do, so I just jumped into the car and we drove away. You gotta love the city.

For p-day today, we hiked to the Hollywood sign.   A great hike and a beautiful view with a little smog. :)

Also, I'm getting use to the California weather, because it got below 60 degrees and I was freezing. hahaha -- Cali baby.

Love y'all! Stay safe!!!!

Feliz Año Nuevo

Feliz Año Nuevo,

Hope y'all had a wonderful new year celebration. My ward threw a fun new year party, but we had to leave early because of curfew.  So we came back and made cookies with our roommates and had a dance party, while Sister Westcott went crazy with the harmonica.

Anyway, this past week has been good! Both my companion and Sister Westcott's companion got sick so Sister Westcott and I were pretty much companions for the week. I went to her lessons and she came to mine. She is English speaking so she doesn't know any Spanish.  It really tested my Spanish.  Haha. I had a really cool experience. Sister Westcott and I went out finding in her area.  We came across this guy named Jose and I started to talk to him in Spanish.  It was like all the words I needed to say came and we had a conversation.  He was interested to learn more so I got his number and everything. THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS REAL Y'ALL.

Love you guys!  Have a wonderful week! Stay safe!
