Feliz Navidad!!

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!

I hope you guys had the best Christmas! This week has been awesome! My ward is the best, we had a ward Christmas party and they went all out. The ward members are super sweet and made Christmas the best. With our roommates, we made a Christmas corner with all of our gifts and Christ's picture in the middle. On Christmas Eve, we sang at a convalescent hospital.  We all wore our Light the World shirts and sang our little hearts out. Halla! For Christmas Eve dinner, our friend we are teaching, Luz Flores, invited us over for dinner with her family.  They are the sweetest humans. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!!

Also, before my mission, I've only had one bloody nose.  However, his past week I've had five.  It's been funnn... ): One time, I got one in the car so we had to pull over and Hermana Wall had to knock on a random door to ask for some tissue and the guy gave us a whole box.  What a nice guy.  I'm sure he thought we were pretty weird though.
We started teaching this kid named Steven.  He's 17 and is from Guatemala.  He moved here to make money and to send it back to his family in Guatemala.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas day. I want to thank my family and friends for being the best ever and making this Christmas the best.  I love y'all so much!!!! Be safe! Have a wonderful week!

First Transfer

Hi Y'all,

Transfers were this week and I am excited to stay in the Los Angeles 6th Ward (Spanish) with Hermana Wall.

This past week I've seen so many miracles happen.  One was when we were going to stop by one of our friend's house and we passed a park.  We saw a man sitting alone in the rain.  We both were prompted to go talk to him.  When we started to talk, he told us that he knew God sent us.  He said he was about to leave and then it started to rain so he stayed and prayed to God that someone would come and help him get his life together.  When we came up and talked to him, he knew we were his angels.  It was so cool.

We set a baptismal date with a girl named Emely.  She is about to turn 10.  She is super cute!  Her family just moved from Honduras.  I'm so excited!  We are also still teaching Owen!  He has the best spirit and his family is the cutest.

This past week I got food poisoning!  So funnnnnnnn.... My companion and roommates were so cute helping me when I was dying.  Now I'm feeling wonderful and I'm so grateful for everyone around me.

We finally went to In-N-Out y'all. It was awesome. We went to the Walk of Fame, too.  Two people recognized us as sister missionaries. It was super fun.

It's Christmas season and if any of you haven't seen The Christ Child video yet, you need to see it!  https://www.comeuntochrist.org/light-the-world/the-christ-child  It's amazing!  Light the World y'all!!!!  Enjoy this wonderful season.

Love you guys all so much! Stay Safe!

Blessed

Hey y'all,

I don't have a lot of time today, but Thanksgiving was great.  We went with the Elders to a member's house and had turkey, ham and rice! It was the best turkey I've ever had.

We had an appointment with our friend Juan, but he didn't show up so we went with some Elders to his apartment place to try to find him. His address didn't have a number for his room so we started knocking doors.  I'm pretty sure the place was haunted.  It looked like it could be in a horror movie.  No luck finding Juan, but I saw my first wild rat on the street, kind of exciting.

Anyway, we are also teaching a young boy named Owen.  He's the sweetest boy and I love teaching his family and him.

The other day we talked to this lady on the street.  She had the sweetest heart.  She gave us some random food, not sure what it was, but it was good.  Today we played soccer with some Elders and Hermanas.  It was so fun to get to play some soccer.  After, we had a cute little picnic. It was a good time.

Anyway, hope y'all have a great week! Stay safe!!!

Agradecido (Grateful)

Hi,

Man, oh, man, I don't know where to begin.  To start out the week, it rained!!!  It was so pretty.  The weather is the same everyday, so it's nice when it's different.  On Tuesday, we came out to our car to find a wonderful parking ticket.  For no reason, we received a cute ticket. So now all of our money for groceries is going to pay for the ticket haha.  Anyway, Hermana Wall and I do not have a parking spot.  So we have to street park. If you know anything about LA, you would know there is no parking ever.  Last night we were driving around for 40 minutes and than finally found a parking spot that was 3/4 of a mile from our apartment haha.

On Saturday, we did exchanges. I went with an English speaking sister and we went to her area, a very nice area. However, it also made me very grateful for teaching Latinos and not Americas.  Americans are so rude haha. We had some extra time before our next lesson so we thought we'd stop by this guys house named Kevin.  We knocked on the door and literally all we said was "Is Kevin home?" Then six different people came to the door yelling at us and told us never to come back and said Kevin was in jail and to never say that name again.  They called us freaks and slammed the door in our face. It was awesome!!!! Hope Kevin's doing alright.

We had a ward Thanksgiving dinner! It was so fun, the food was incredible. The ward is so sweet and super nice to us. I love these people so much!!!!!

We are still teaching Juan and he said he wants to get baptized! So we set a date and now we are teaching him the rest of the lessons! He's a great guy and is trying super hard to change his life.

I'm so grateful for all y'all and for the love and the support you guys give me all the time. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Love y'all!!! Stay safe!!!

L.A. Baby

Hi Y'all,

I made it to LA!! It's been a crazy week. When I first got here,  I met my mission president and his wife (President Valeri V. & Glenda Cordon), they are the cutest people. They took us to the mission home and we had a home cooked meal!!!!!  Yes, real food!  It was super good.  The next day, I met my trainer, Hermana Wall.  She is from Virginia. She has spent her last six months in a different area so we are both new to the area and we are both pretty lost. We are white washing this area (which means that missionaries haven't been here for a while).  It's very hard haha, but we chilling. We live in Koreatown! It's pretty cool.

In California, you never know what's south or what's north. Sometimes when we are out running in the mornings, we get lost because we don't know the direction we came from. Haha It's so hard. Also, people say Utah drivers are bad? Well, I'm sorry, but people here are crazy. It's like they've never heard of a stop sign before. haha

We have been teaching a lot! It's been kinda hard to find people to teach though because we are so new to the area, but we have the best ward ever!! They are so so so excited to have hermanas in their ward. We are the first hermanas in this area for a long time.  Everyone is confused when they see sisters instead of elders. We have lessons with ward members all the time,  One lady, Hermana Contreras, is the sweetest. She can talk and talk and talk forever.  I never know what she is saying because she talks so fast  But it's okay, because I never need to respond because she's always talking. haha Love her.

We are teaching this guy named Juan! He really wants to change his life, but can't seem to give up drinking. So we're working on that.   He's a good guy! We are also teaching Jonny, we met him at a park. He also struggles with drinking. We try and teach him, but he's always drunk.  So send prayers for Jonny.

I still haven't gone to In-N-Out, but its gonna happen soon. Today we are getting Korean BBQ, which I'm so excited for!!!

Anyway, life's good! I love these people!! Love you guys!! Stay safe!!!

Last Week at the MTC

Hi Y'all,

It's been a great week!  We had our final devotional last night and the spirit was so strong.  Elder Booth and I had the opportunity to sing during it.

For p-day, we went one more time to the Mexico City Temple.  So beautiful!

Our Halloween was basic.  We ate candy and painted our nails. :)  Not a lot of Halloween fun at the MTC.

We received our flight plans a few days ago!! Yuhhh  I leave for California on Monday!  I can't wait.  It will be so sad to leave our district, we're like family.  But, we're all super pumped to leave the MTC.  I'm grateful for the friends I have made and for the experiences I have had here.

A short email, but a picture overload.  Thanks!

Love y'all.  Be safe!!!

Rain, Rain

Hi,

Okok so I'm back in a trio with Hermana Young and Hermana Yensen. We moved into a trio room, it's pretty small but we're like besties so we just party all the time. The other Hermana's in our apartment are Latinas, they don't speak any English so it's good practice for us.

Hermana Yensen's birthday was yesterday!! For her birthday we jammed out to music (Disney & Christmas) and ate a lot of candy. haha  It was way fun.

It rained all this last week and when it rains it pours, with thunder and lightning every few minutes. It's super pretty.

On Sunday in sacrament meeting, I gave the closing prayer in Spanish.  Scary, but super exciting.

We switch companions on Tuesday and Saturday every week with Latinas. It's super fun, but exhausting. The Latinas speak so fast haha.  I have the same companion every week. Her name is Hermana Crisostomno. She's the cutest. She always gives me these interesting Mexican candies. Haha She's the best.

One more full week here!! Then, I'm outta here!!! I'm getting super excited to leave, but I will miss my district a lot. Love them.

On Monday, I tried out to sing in a devotional for this next week with Elder Booth, we got in. We have to sing half the song in Spanish, I'm super excited. Elder Turner is playing the piano for us.

Anyway, all is good.

Love y'all!

Llamamdome

Wazzzzz uppppp!

Yesterday, we switched companions with Latinas for the day. They did not speak any English. It was way fun.  It was hard to communicate with them because all I know are church words in Spanish, but it was so fun. My Latina companion's name was Hermana Crisostomno. She is so cute. I didn't get a picture with her, but I will next week.

So Hermana Young went back with her old companion.  Now it's Hermana Yensen and I as a companionship. I freakin love Hermana Yensen, She's the best. We have an Australian roommate (Hermana Richard) and we make up raps to sing to her at night.  She says we are bad, but deep down we know she loves it. I'm also trying to master my Australian accent here. Hermana Richard's has been teaching me. I'm getting it down.

I guess our district is ahead of everyone.  We memorized everything super fast and now we're just memorizing vocabulary. It's nice, but I'm like why did we make the first 3 weeks so stressful hahah.  It's still stressful, but more relaxed.

I'm half way done with my MTC experience!!! I'm so ready to go to California!!! Elder Loreward from our district and I leave the same day for California.  The first thing we are going to do is get some American fast food  -- I'm ready for some In-N-Out!!!

Anyway, everything's good here!  Hope y'all have a good week!  The church is true! God loves y'all.  Be safe.
